How Sensory Tools and Equipment Can Support Your Child
Children with sensory processing differences often benefit from specific tools or equipment that help their bodies feel more regulated, organized, and ready to learn. Sensory items such as swings, crash pads, wobble cushions, weighted items, or movement tools can provide the input a child’s nervous system needs to support focus, body awareness, and emotional regulation.
When sensory supports are available in the home learning environment, they can help children:
stay more engaged during learning activities
improve attention and participation
regulate their energy levels
feel calmer and more organized throughout the day
For families who participate in the Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program, a Letter of Academic Necessity from a qualified provider may allow sensory equipment and tools to be purchased using ESA funds.
At Tiny Tots Therapy, our occupational therapist completes a comprehensive sensory assessment to better understand your child’s individual sensory needs. Based on the results, we can recommend specific sensory supports that may help your child feel more regulated and successful during their academic learning at home.
Our goal is to help families create an environment where children feel supported, comfortable, and ready to learn.
