CraniosacraL Fascial therapy

What is craniosacral fascial therapy (CFT)?

Craniosacral fascial therapy (CFT) is a form of bodywork that involves a light, gentle touch to release restriction and tightness in the body.

The cerebrospinal fluid which flows around the brain, spine and in the connective tissue (fascia) of the body, nourishes and protects the brain and helps the body eliminate toxins. When the craniosacral system is open, the cerebrospinal fluid can flow unrestricted and help the brain and the body to perform optimally.

The goal of CFT is to help the body release the tightness and restrictions in order to promote overall health and well-being.

Who can benefit
from cft?

Anyone can benefit from CFT!

We are trained in adult and infant CFT. It is especially important for newborns, infants and pre/postpartum mothers to have body tension released as soon as possible as fascial restrictions can lead to difficulties with sleeping, eating, digestion, movement, and mood.

We often see babies for the following reasons:

  • Birth Trauma

  • Feeding difficulties (latching, oral ties, high palate, oral motor dysfunction)

  • Reflux or Colic

  • Torticollis/ Head Turning Preference

  • Shoulder Dystocia

  • Breech Positioning

  • Constipation

what is fascia?

Fascia is a connective tissue that surrounds our muscles, bones, organs, and nerves, providing support and structure throughout the body.

When fascia becomes tight or restricted, it can create imbalances in body tension, affecting range of motion and developmental movement patterns.

CFT addresses the tension and asymmetries in the fascial system so that the body can move with better alignment and fluidity.

How Can Craniosacral Therapy (CFT)
Benefit Your Baby?

Craniosacral therapy (CFT) can help your baby feel more comfortable, improve digestion, enhance sleep, and support better feeding skills and latch. It may also make car rides easier and improve head and neck mobility.

Most babies are born with some level of tension in their bodies, and the birth process can be physically challenging for both mother and baby. Early bodywork, like CFT, can set the stage for optimal feeding and developmental progress during your baby’s first year.

If you suspect your baby may have a lip, tongue, or buccal tie, it’s recommended to start with CFT sessions. This can help determine whether the tightness is caused by a true tie that requires further evaluation and treatment.
